Strip building is a process of building a boat by laying thin strips of timber around a former consisting of a central beam running from bow to stern "The Strongback" with frames regularly spaced at intervals along the strongback.

Once the hull is complete the  process on a kayak is repeated for the deck (Patterns can be laid in  the deck by using different timbers) once this is competed the outside of the hull and deck are sanded and an epoxy glass coat is laid on the outside.

The frames and strongback are removed the inside is glassed deck and hull glued together and fitted out.
