This picture shows the finger boards on the router table, they serve 2 purposes
1 to keep the wood in contact with the tool
2 to keep your fingers away from the cutter ( I learnt the hard way when I severely lacerated a finger due to an insecurely fixed fingerboard coming loose, my finger was then drawn into the cutter )
